This is a set of Planetary Housing plates from a Caterpillar 785 Haul Truck transmission. The bushings in the reaction pin (guide rod) positions are loose and need to be replaced. In this video we show making the new bushings on the lathe including drilling, reaming and machining. We also show the cryo-freezing and shrink fit installation of the bushings into the plates using liquid nitrogen. This info was take from different forums and different online guides to take a deeper look into the subject I suggest looking at this article by Slee Offroad 🤍 Here is a quick overview US models The first model of the 80 Series imported to the US was the 1991 model. This model was sold until 1992. 1993 saw the introduction of the new 4.5 L motor. In 1995, the dash was updated to include airbags and this model ran until 1997, which was the last year of the 80 Series. Below is a list of major specifications and changes that were made. FJ80 1991-1992 First major wagon body re-design since the 1980 introduction of the 60 series. 3FE 4.0L engine and A440F automatic transmission held over from the 62 series wagons. Introduction of full time, four wheel drive system. Introduction of all coil suspension for the wagons. 15″ x 7″ alloy wheels standard and unique to ’91-92 but the same as SR5 mini-truck wheels front disk / rear drum brakes with FF front and SF rear axles third row seats available for the first time no airbags available no ABS brake system available no factory lockers available FZJ80 1993-1994 Introduction of 16″ wheels. Rear axle changes to full floater with disk brakes when equipped with ABS Also gets viscous coupling HF2AV transfer case versus non-viscous HF2A transfer case for drum braked 80’s (and fj80’s) Introduction of 4.5l 24 valve motor. Front and Rear factory lockers become an option. Automatic transmission – Electronic Controlled A442Fwith mechanical lockup converter Somewhere in 1993 the AC system changed from R12 to R134. With the R12 systems the dryer unit was in front of the battery and with the R134 it moved to behind the bumper. Might have been in 1993 The thickness of the drive plates on the front hubs were increased after April 1994 (build date). The new drive flange number is 43421-60040 and the old one is 43421-60022. If you try to install an earlier birfield into a later truck, you will not be able to install the circlip on the end of the axle shaft. Supercharger systems now available for 1993-1994 models. Front ABS Lines are routed on the front control arm. Radiator is a 3 row brass core. FZJ80 1995-1997 1996 saw the introduction of the Lexus LX450 Model. Exhaust system changed from side by side catalytic converters to in-line converters. The exhaust also routes below the frame rail just behind the catalytic converters to avoid excessive heat on the passenger floor-boards. Front grill changed from the word TOYOTA written across the front to the new Toyota symbol. Headlight mounts are different from 1991-1994 vs. 1995-1997 and will not interchange. Redesigned dash board with airbags as standard equipment. Headliner changed to two piece molded units. Emission system on engine changes. Changed from a Mass Air Pressure meter to a Mass Air Flow meter. Certain plumbing was also removed. Supercharger & Turbo systems available for 1995-1997 models. ECU updates and truck became voluntary OBD-II compatible. Fully compatible in 1996 models. Wheel Lug nuts change from conical to washer type. Airbags become standard Automatic transmission changes to the A343F. Some 95’s were produced with the A442F. The transmission type is printed on the label on the driver door. 1997 saw the introduction of the 40th Anniversary editions as well as the Collectors Series. 1997 the rear swaybar brackets that attach the bar to the frame were changed from a plate side that attached to the side of the frame to a bracket style that attached to the bottom of the frame. ABS wires on the front were moved upward and no longer run down the front control arm. Rock climbing "cams" a.k.a. If you need to take the rear wheel off your bike for maintenance or repair, you’ll first have to remove the thru axle. In this video, we show you how to prepare the rear wheel, remove the axle and wheel, and reinstall the wheel and axle. Shop REI’s selection of bikes at 🤍 Video Transcript: If you popped a tube and you need to fix the flat or you need to do some maintenance on your bike, the first thing to do is remove the rear wheel. Put your bike in a repair stand and shift the chain to the smallest cog to help the wheel slide out more easily. If you're in the middle of your ride or you don't have a bike stand, you can flip the bike upside down to work on it. If your has a clutch that increases tension on the chain, turn it off. Next, loosen the lever on the axle and spin it counterclockwise until all the threads are completely loose. Support the wheel and pull the axle out. To get the wheel out smoothly, pull down on the tensioning arm and back on the body of the derailer. The wheel should slide right out. When you're done with your work and it's time to reinstall the wheel, add a thin film of grease to the threads on the axle. Get the derailer out of the way by pulling it down and back. It also helps to make sure one of the smallest cogs bumps up against the upper section of chain. Check that the wheel is fully seated in the drop-outs before re-installing the axle. If the axle doesn't slide in smoothly on the first try, remove it and check the wheel's alignment before trying again. Screw in the axle and close the lever. Make sure it's tucked out of the way and isn't touching the bike's frame. If the lever closes too easily and is touching the frame, it's probably not tight enough. Open the lever and tighten the axle before trying again. Turn the clutch back on if you have one. Finish by spinning the pedals and making sure that the gears shift normally. To recap, shift the chain to the smallest cog and turn off the clutch to make it easier to remove the wheel. Support the wheel as you loosen and remove the axle. Move the derailer down and back to let the wheel out and do the same to let it back in. Reinstall the axle and turn the clutch back on. Make sure the gears shift normally.

However, in the case of axis 1, the kinetic energy is the highest possible for a given angular momentum, and in the case of axis 3, the kinetic energy is the lowest possible for a given angular momentum (which can be easily shown from conservation of energy and momentum equations, and is also fairly intuitive from the fact that kinetic energy is proportional to velocity squared, while momentum is proportional to velocity - so in the case of axis 1, the smaller masses will have to be spinning faster for a given momentum, and will thus have more energy, and vice versa for axis 3 where all the masses are spinning: the energy will be lowest). In fact, this is a strict inequality - if the energy is highest possible, there are no other possible combinations of momenta other than L2=L3=0, and vice versa for if the energy is the lowest possible. Because of this, in the case of axis 1 the energy is so high that there simply aren't any other possible combinations of angular momentum components L1, L2 and L3 - the object would have to lose energy in order to spin differently. And in the case of axis 3, the energy is so low that there likewise is no way for the object to be rotating other than purely around axis 3 - it would have to gain energy. However, there's no such constraint for axis 2, since the energy is somewhere in between the min and max possible. This, together with the centrifugal effects, means that the components of momentum DO change.

Volvo Cars is on a mission to sell only battery electric vehicles by 2030 and while doing so continue to deliver on our core values. Rapidly changing design prerequisites means that agility and flexibility in the design process is needed. This presentation will give an insight in how we develop and use the DiM150 to evaluate winter driving performance of future cars independent of season. Functionality of active control systems is developed and tested in the driving simulator before physical expeditions, thereby greatly enhancing the quality of the physical tuning sessions. To maximize realism and validity the motion cueing is optimized for low-μ conditions in a joint PhD project with the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Roll feedback has been optimized using nonlinear optimization. To enhance the body slip feedback, a series of objective and subjective clinics are conducted at our proving ground in Jokkmokk targeting steady state and transient slip feedback. TipMatic "Fleet" is a variant that reduces fuel consumption and wear and tear for large fleets or hire companies, in particular with inexperienced or frequently changing drivers. This is achieved by significantly reducing the scope for manual intervention, for example, or by preventing downshifting for acceleration in response to a kick-down.

In this video, we talk about the two additional axes in 5-axis machining and how dynamic work offsets (DWO) can simplify the setup of multiaxis jobs. 5-Axis machines completely revolutionized the machining industry by increasing the complexity of movements both the workpiece and the cutting tool can move through, relative to each other. This was made possible by adding two axes - the B and C axes - to the traditional X, Y, and Z axes. Unlike the X, Y, and Z axes, which are linear, the B and C are rotational and typically move the workpiece around a linear axis. In particular, the B-axis rotates around the Y-axis while C-axis rotates around the Z-axis And while this axis addition might sound pretty simple, the possibilities that were opened when this new technique was introduced (back in the 50s, surprisingly prior to numerical control) were industry-changing. 5-Axis machining, however, can be tricky. One particular thing to consider is how the planes, and consequently the tool positioning, change as the workpiece shifts. New 2021 Mercedes-Benz S Class If you’ve been following the S-Class furor, you’ve likely heard that the new Merc is a technological tour de force. Five screens, biometric security, facial recognition—what’s not to love? But, while we’ve all been focusing on the car’s cool gear, we may have overlooked the most impressive aspect: its cabin. The luxurious interior, which is now detailed in full on the marque’s website, promises more space, greater comfort and a good dose of practicality. In true Mercedes fashion, it looks good, too. The automaker has created a “lounge-type” ambiance by contrasting soft leathers—quilted and perforated, of course—with hard materials, like high-quality wood veneer. This is further enhanced by active ambient lighting and soundscapes that change depending on your mood. Simply say, “Hey Mercedes, I am stressed,” for example, and the car will automatically trigger the “Joy” program to lift your spirits. The three-pointed star has also stretched the wheelbase to give greater legroom and added more acoustic foam to ensure the cabin is whisper quiet. The seats have been redesigned for greater support and are paired with a special “Energizing Seat Kinetics” system that allows you to make minute adjustments to increase comfort and improve posture. On top of that, the cushions are heated and can even give you a massage if you so desire. Further to this, the “Energizing Coach,” which is available with the optional “Warmth & Comfort” package, can suggest an appropriate fitness or wellness program based on vehicle and trip data. It can also factor in information about sleep quality and stress level if you have a compatible smartphone or fitness bracelet. Basically, the car targets numerous senses at once to help you feel more alert and/or refreshed. The cabin even has its own signature scent, because, why not? The car’s nifty filtering system uses activated carbon and an ionizer to provide the best air quality, before infusing the space with a special S-Class fragrance. The cabin’s layout can also be customized depending on what the diver wants. There’s a fancy four-seat configuration that offers more space or a more practical five-seat version that’s great for families. Buyers will also get to choose between a “business center console” or a folding center armrest. Believe it or not, this hardly scratches the surface on the S-Class cabin. Having trouble getting your indexed gears working properly? It's not always cable adjustment that is required to make them function correctly. In this tutorial I will show you other problems there might be getting the gears to index which aren't cable related. If your derailleur hanger is bent it will be pretty much impossible to get your gears to index properly. There are a host of other problems that can occur because of a bent derailleur hanger which can be become quite expensive. You could end up with a damaged frame, rear wheel, derailleur and chain. More importantly you could have a very serious accident and nobody wants that. I show you how to check it is straight using nothing more than a steel ruler and then how to straighten it. The methods and tools used in this video include a derailleur hanger straightening tool along with three other ways it can be done with items you should have in your workshop. One of them is the way I do it pretty much every time in the workshop for replaceable hangers without even taking the derailleur off. This saves time, frustration and money. I also tell you what you should do instead of straightening the hanger while you are out on the road. This will ensure you get home riding your without doing any further damage. This the third in series of troubleshooting indexed gear problems. There are more to come so you can become confident any gear problems can be resolved and run as sweet as possible. Specialized launches the S-Works Tarmac Disc | Subscribe to Cycling Weekly here: 🤍 We’ll start with the new bike, which in its looks is identical to the rim version. In fact, both the rim brake versions and the disc brake versions have identical geometry thanks to Specialized’s Retül fit technology and its Rider First Engineered designs. It’s a concept that, in theory, allows all bikes regardless of size or disc brakes to have the same ride feel. It means the bike’s characteristics don’t change between the smallest size (44) and the largest size (61). There are no women-specific models, just smaller sizes and different layups to maintain the same ride feel. The two bikes do have different chainstay lengths, which is now set at 410mm across all sizes. Previously, it was between 405 and 410mm depending on the size. There’s also a new “Flush Axle System” in use on the disc brake model, with 10x100mm spacing up front and 12x142mm on the rear. Interestingly, when you buy the bike you get two different types of thru-axles. There are DT RWS levers and flush, bolt-on axles. The flush axles are 30g heavier than the levered version. In previous video we spoke about hydrogen-powered trains and drone-based maintenance of railway infrastructure. Also, we had a small discussion about what innovations are and what do they mean for the railway industry. If you didn’t, check out that video right away! Now, we'll talk about the use of 4G and 5G technology in rail traffic management systems and the trains capable of running at two (or more) different track gauges. We decided to start this video with GSM-R, a 2G-based international wireless communications standard used for communication on railways and applications that are used for these purposes. It is, on one hand, a secure platform for voice and data communication between the railway operational staff (train drivers, dispatchers, shunting team members) and station controllers, and, on the other hand, it is a platform that enables (and guarantees!) smooth performance of trains for the speeds up to 500 km/h, without any communication loss. Then, we presented South Korea's experience related to developing a 4G-based, Korean Train Control System, which is about to replace (already outdated?) 2G technology. It uses so-called LTE-R protocol enabling smart video and audio and high-speed wireless voice and data communications - inside the train, between different trains and between the train and the ground. In the second part of the video, we spoke about a procedure of bogie exchange and the impact it has on international railway traffic. Bogie exchange is a procedure in which a railway wagon is converted from one gauge to another - by removing the existing bogies, and installing a new, with differently spaced wheels.
