In this video, I will provide step by step instructions for setting up a full offline copy of Wikipedia (including images) to be used on your smartphone with the app Kiwix. This will allow you to access the full Wikipedia catalogue during a “Grid Down” situation, when the internet is no longer available for whatever reason. The most important preps are Knowledge and Skills. You can preserve much of human knowledge, which has been documented on Wikipedia, and have it stored on a tiny MicroSD card. This card can then be accessible from your smartphone, laptop, tablet or other computer system. Enjoy! STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Purchase large capacity MicroSD Card (preferably 128 GB): 🤍 2) Insert MicroSD with adapter into computer 3) Right-click the MicroSD card, view Properties and ensure that it is formatted to a non-FAT32 partition (e.g., exFAT). Reformat the card if needed. 4) Go to Kiwix website: 🤍 5) Select the “Download Wikipedia” button. Download will take several hours. 6) After download has completed, extract the ZIP file to the MicroSD card. 7) Go to the Kiwix Google Play Store: 🤍 8) Install the Kiwix app to your device. 9) Power down the mobile device. 10) Insert the MicroSD card into the SD tray of the mobile device. 11) Power up the mobile device. The device may take a few moments to configure the MicroSD for use.1 12) Open the Kiwix app 13) Configure Kiwix to use the Wikipedia ZIM file on the MicroSD by selecting the SD Card Icon and then selecting the correct storage path. 14) To verify Offline functionality, put your device into Airplane Mode (which disables Wi-Fi and data) 15) Once in Airplane Mode, do a Wikipedia Search using Kiwix for any topic. 16) Verify that Kiwix opens the page for the searched item even when the device is in Airplane Mode 17) Congratulations. You now have a complete copy of Wikipedia, with images, stored offline on your mobile device. With or without internet access, all of the knowledge and data available on Wikipedia is now accessible to you at any time. This paper looks at the Decision Transformer and shows that, surprisingly, pre-training the model on a language-modelling task significantly boosts its performance on Offline Reinforcement Learning. The resulting model achieves higher scores, can get away with less parameters, and exhibits superior scaling properties. This raises many questions about the fundamental connection between the domains of language and RL. In this paper, we look to take advantage of this formulation of reinforcement learning as sequence modeling and investigate the transferability of pre-trained sequence models on other domains (vision, language) when finetuned on offline RL tasks (control, games). To this end, we also propose techniques to improve transfer between these domains. Results show consistent performance gains in terms of both convergence speed and reward on a variety of environments, accelerating training by 3-6x and achieving state-of-the-art performance in a variety of tasks using Wikipedia-pretrained and GPT2 language models. We hope that this work not only brings light to the potentials of leveraging generic sequence modeling techniques and pre-trained models for RL, but also inspires future work on sharing knowledge between generative modeling tasks of completely different domains. Results show consistent performance gains in terms of both convergence speed and reward on a variety of environments, accelerating training by 3-6x and achieving state-of-the-art performance in a variety of tasks using Wikipedia-pretrained and GPT2 language models. We hope that this work not only brings light to the potentials of leveraging generic sequence modeling techniques and pre-trained models for RL, but also inspires future work on sharing knowledge between generative modeling tasks of completely different domains.
