Welcome to: "A Journey Into The Dark Web: The INSANE Story of Silk Road". Beneath the normal internet we all know - like YouTube, Facebook, and Google - there lies the dark web - an anonymous unregulated world, with websites not accessible from search engines, a hidden corner of the internet where anything goes. For a while, the biggest site on the dark web was Silk Road, an online black market for all kinds of illegal goods and services. But what’s perhaps most surprising of all about this, is who was behind this illegal empire. Meet Ross Ulbricht, Silk Road's creator. Ross grew up in a loving family in Texas. He was a boy scout as a kid, studied physics at university, and was thought of as a very sweet guy by all his friends and family. So, imagine their shock, when they realized Ross was the criminal mastermind behind the largest online drug empire in history, responsible for over $1.2 billion dollars worth of sales of illegal goods and services. Not just that, but this sweet kid had reportedly paid hit men to kill his enemies.… Or, did he? To this day there is debate over whether Ross is guilty or not. In this Silk Road documentary, we’re going to dive into the murky world of the dark web and explore the true story behind the infamous Silk Road marketplace. We’re also going to look at how the government really managed to track down Ross, despite the fact that Ross was using the Tor browser which made him completely anonymous. How do you find someone who can’t be tracked? This is a true story filled with mysteries, twists and even a couple of corrupt government agents. Welcome to the fascinating story of the Silk Road website on the dark web. (aka: The Story Of SILK ROAD: A Journey Into The Dark Web - How They Caught The Silk Road Kingpin by MagnatesMedia). Kitaro - Theme from the Silk Road. "The Silk Road: The Rise And Fall of Civilizations" is an NHK Tokushu documentary series that first aired in April 7, 1980, broadcast over a 10-year period. It took 17 years in production to complete what many consider a landmark in Japan's broadcasting television history. The intention of the program was to reveal how ancient Japan was influenced by the Silk Road trade route. The documentary was narrated by Koji Ishizaka with music composed by Kitaro, who insisted that the show be broadcast in stereo. The music was composed mainly using a Minimoog. The series of soundtracks sold millions and the success created from the program brought Kitaro international attention. 🤍KaoruGreenEmerald

Young, idealistic, and driven to succeed, Ross Ulbricht (Nick Robinson) creates the internet’s first unregulated marketplace: Silk Road. In an expedition through the Central Asian steppe, a group of Kazakh and European archaeologists search for clues left by early Humans and Neanderthals - they are investigating the prehistoric origins of the legendary Silk Road. Far before its emergence in the 2nd Century BC, and well before the silk trade, this expansive network of routes had already been 50,000 years in the making. Traversing over 2,500 km from the Uzbek to the Russian border, scientists search for traces that may hold the missing key to how extreme climatic events spurred prehistoric mass migrations, bringing an unprecedented encounter between Neanderthals and Homo sapiens. These discoveries will help explain how climate change and geography fueled key genetic exchanges in human evolution, helped shape the structure of modern Asian populations, and later enabled the explosion of culture and trade along these routes. Their findings show how humans coped with inhospitable environments and cemented the nomadic cultures still present in modern-day Kazakhstan. Uzbekistan stretches between the Gissar Mountains and the Aral Sea. The country is characterized by seemingly endless sandy deserts and oases, and was once one of the most important powers in the region. For thousands of years, here on the Silk Road, there was only one means of transportation: the camel. That changed after Russia annexed the territory of what is now Uzbekistan, building a railroad network there. Today, the Silk Road Express is still the main transport route between the green east of Uzbekistan and the dry deserts of the west. Uzbekistan has been an independent republic since 1991. In Samarkand, much has been done in recent years to attract tourists. There’s even a tourist police force in the city. Its most famous policewomen are twins Fatima and Zukhra, who were English teachers before they joined the force. Their beat is the famous Registan Square, and going on patrol among the tourists also means dealing with constant requests for photos. The Gissar Mountains are actually the westernmost foothills of the Himalayas. Here, over millions of years, the deepest caves in the world have formed. Two speleologists have come here to investigate a legend: The conqueror Timur Lenk is said to have hidden his army in the so-called Timur Cave in the 15th century, before subjugating all of Central Asia. The two researchers want to find out if the legend could be true. Uzbekistan consists largely of deserts that stretch through the country from Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan. One river, the Amu Darya, has fed the Aral Sea for millions of years. But the cotton that is planted here requires huge amounts of water. As a result, the Aral Sea is nearly dry today. Now, the area around the lake is known as the Aralkum Desert. Sand erosion is the region’s main problem, but a few years ago, a major project was launched to plant the desert with vegetation. #documentary #dwdocumentary #uzbekistan #travel DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. The New Silk Road is a mammoth project intended to connect China with the West. It's a gigantic infrastructure project that Beijing says will benefit everyone. But this two-part documentary shows China’s predominant self-interest and geopolitical ambitions. The old Silk Road is a legend, whereas the New Silk Road is a real megaproject. China wants to reconnect the world though a network of roads, railways, ports and airports between Asia and Europe. A team of reporters travels by sea and land along the New Silk Road and shows how China, with the largest investment program in history, is expanding its influence worldwide. Their journey begins in Shenzhen on the Pearl River Delta. This is where China's legendary rise to an economic superpower began 40 years ago. The private market economy experiment unleashed forces that allowed Shenzhen to grow into a mega-metropolis. The team takes a container ship towards Southeast Asia. Its first stop is the port city of Sihanoukville in Cambodia. A joke is making the rounds there these days: you can now travel to China without a passport and without leaving your own country. Sihanoukville is now almost part of China itself! The Chinese have financed practically everything built here in the recent past: the extension of the port, new roads, bridges and factories. Many Cambodians are unhappy and feel like losers in the boom. Rising prices and rents are making the poor even poorer. But for land and house owners, on the other hand, it’s a bonanza. In Myanmar, resistance is already growing. Locals in Kachin have successfully blocked a new dam project, asking how the Chinese could produce energy for their own country whilst leaving the locals themselves without electricity? The Myanmar government pulled the emergency brake and the huge Chinese dam project did not get beyond the first concrete piers in the river. The Karakorum Highway from Kashgar in China across the Roof of the World to Islamabad in Pakistan is one of the most difficult and dangerous roads in this breathtaking mountain world. Once the road is finished, it often disintegrates again, and rock falls and landslides block the highway as if the Karakorum Mountains are trying to deny China strategic access to the Arabian Sea. The first part of the report ends in Islamabad. DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. In 2011, Ross Ulbricht was a 26-year-old libertarian dreamer with a computer and a billion-dollar idea - an online marketplace where users could buy and sell drugs. Thus, the Silk Road anonymous marketplace was born. But almost 3 years after the eBay of drugs launched, it was seized by the feds, and its founder was arrested. Today, we take a deep dive into this case full of twists - corrupt cops, an Oxy-dealing grandpa, and even murder-for-hire. Support our Sponsors! Camels plodding across the desert, and a sense of timelessness evoked by Kitaro's theme music... NHK devoted 17 years to the planning, shooting and production of The Silk Road, which unearthed trade routes linking long-lost civilizations of East and West. A landmark in broadcasting history, this series told the story of the rise and fall of ancient civilizations. The NHK Tokushu and China's CCTV documentary series The Silk Road began on April 7, 1980. The program started with the memorable scene of a camel caravan crossing the desert against the setting sun, with Kitaro's music and a sense of timelessness. It was the start of an epic televisual poem. The first journey described in the series began in Chang'an (now Xi'an), at the eastern end of the ancient route. On 450,000 feet of film, the NHK crew recorded the path westward to the Pamir Heights at the Pakistan border and this material was edited to make 12 monthly broadcasts. In response to viewers' requests that the series be extended to cover the Silk Road all the way to Rome, sequels were made over the next 10 years. Seventeen years after the program was conceived, the project was completed. 1) The Glories of Ancient Chang-An Chang-An - China's old center. The journey begins from Chang-An, current Xi-an that was more than 1,000 years a capital in China, and the melting pot of international influences.

The first online marketplace on the darkweb where you could buy and sell anything. The site went so viral that by age 28, Ross was on track to become a billionaire within just two years. Ross Ulbricht grew up in Austin, Texas in the late 80s and 90s. His father taught Ross how to think through every side of an argument. And his mother gave up her dream of becoming a journalist to bet everything on her golden son becoming successful. Ross became obsessed with Libertarianism. And at one school debate, Ross argued that drugs - all drugs should be legalized. That not only is it not the government’s right to tell people what they can and can’t put in their bodies, and that legalizing drugs would actually make society safer. Ross won that debate. Ross seemingly tried everything. He started a video game company, an investment fund, did odd jobs on Craigslist, but nothing was working. But then an idea struck him: an anonymous website where you can buy and sell anything. And by 2009, the anonymous browser, Tor, was already a thing, and the last missing piece of technology Ross would need was released: Bitcoin Ross started working on what would become the Silk Road. It was basically the equivalent of building eBay or Amazon on your own, without any knowledge, experience, or funding. But little by little, the site came together. Being that the Silk Road would end up generating him around $80m in fees, this original $17,000 investment would give him a staggering half-a-million-percent ROI. It’s been around half a year since Ross first started working on the Silk Road, and today, it was finally time for opening day. Ross had essentially done the work of a 12 person startup. - No Spirit - Something Warm 🤍 SwuM - Self Luv 🤍 All materials in these videos are used for educational purposes and fall within the guidelines of fair use.
